Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 3, 2026 | Provided by iCommuneTech

At iCommuneTech, we believe that your digital workspace is strictly yours. We developed Chrome Lock Pro | Secure Profile Locker with a strict “Zero-Knowledge” architecture. This Privacy Policy explains our commitment to ensuring your browsing data remains entirely private and secure.

TL;DR: We do not collect, track, store, or sell any of your personal data or browsing history. The extension operates 100% offline.

1. Zero Data Collection

Chrome Lock Pro is designed to function entirely locally on your device. We do not have servers that receive your data. Specifically:

  • No Browsing History: We do not track, monitor, or record the websites you visit.
  • No Personal Information: We do not ask for your email address, name, or any personally identifiable information (PII) beyond a locally stored display name of your choosing.
  • No Usage Analytics: We do not use third-party trackers (like Google Analytics) to monitor how often you use the extension. Your lock analytics (e.g., Total Locks, Intruder Alerts) exist only inside your browser.

2. How Your Data is Stored

To provide security features like the Master PIN, Decoy PIN, and Authenticator Recovery, the extension must save configuration data. This is handled with maximum security:

  • Local Storage Only: All settings, PINs, and Authenticator (TOTP) Secret Keys are saved using Chrome’s native chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your computer.
  • Cryptographic Hashing: Your Master PIN and Decoy PIN are never saved in plain text. They are instantly hashed using the SHA-256 Web Crypto API. It is mathematically impossible for us (or anyone else) to reverse-engineer your PIN from the local storage files.

3. Required Permissions Explained

To provide a seamless locking experience and protect your active sessions, Chrome Lock Pro requires specific browser permissions. Here is exactly why we need them:

<all_urls> & tabs

Required to identify the URLs of your currently open tabs when you click “Lock”. This allows the extension to safely close and temporarily memorize your session, restoring your exact workspace when you successfully enter your PIN.

storage & unlimitedStorage

Required to save your encrypted PIN, customized UI appearances (like local background images), and hidden tab sessions to your computer’s local hard drive.

idle

Required to monitor system inactivity if you choose to enable the “Auto-Lock on Idle” feature, ensuring your browser locks automatically when you step away from your computer.

notifications

Required strictly to send you local system alerts when the extension detects an “Intruder” (someone failing to guess your PIN multiple times).

contextMenus

Required to place the “Lock Profile Now” button inside your right-click menu for faster manual locking.

4. Third-Party Services

This extension does not integrate with any external APIs, databases, or third-party services. The Authenticator Recovery feature relies on a standard offline algorithm (HMAC-SHA1) generated locally on your machine, meaning you do not need an internet connection to reset your PIN.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our extension or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be updated on this page. Because the extension does not connect to external servers, we cannot notify you dynamically, so we encourage you to review this policy periodically.
